University of Virginia Engagement | Caroline + Justin

Even though Caroline and Justin didn’t actually meet during their time at the University of Virginia, they both attended as undergraduates, and have very fond memories of their four years there. I love that they both wanted to return to this special place for their engagement session, home to some of Thomas Jefferson’s most magnificent architecture, classic brick walkways, arches, columns, and rows of lush, peaceful gardens that beckon lovers and studious scholars alike.

I love when our couples bring their pups along! John and I, of all people, know how much dogs become part of the family.:)

I love this kissing close-up that John caught!

It wouldn’t be a complete UVa undergrad experience without a visit to the Corner, especially the iconic late night hang out, the Virginian. I love that shooting inside the Virginian was Justin’s one request when it came to their engagement photos.

And I love how moody and romantic they turned out in black and white!

Inside one of our favorite gardens…

I can’t decide whether I prefer the color or black and whites! They’re both stunning!

Some of my favorites from along the Colonnade and in front of the Rotunda…

Caroline and Justin: It was so good to finally meet you both after months of emailing back and forth! Thank you so much for having us share in your story and for being so open and real in front of our cameras. It was an incredible time together, and we can’t wait for your wedding in May!

Un abrazo fuerte,

Natalie

San Diego Senior Photographer: Marissa

Well, friends, it’s that time of year again. Summer is winding down and it’s time to start thinking about senior portraits!  I was so excited to be able to meet up with Marissa a few weeks back for her senior session. I had such a great time getting to know her and love that she has the dream to fly for the U.S. Military one day! We started off at the beautiful Inn at Rancho Santa Fe and then wandered around the Village a bit for the second half. Here are some of my favorites from our time together…

Marissa: Thank you again for your willingness to be yourself in front of my camera! You are so naturally photogenic and a joy to work with! Hope you had a great time on your college search and that you are ready to come back and take on your senior year!

Un abrazo fuerte,

Natalie

King Family Vineyards Wedding, Part Two | Veronica + Brian

Welcome back to Brian and Veronica’s gorgeous wedding at King Family Vineyards, a pristine winery at the foot of the majestic Blue Ridge mountains. It is not atypical in Virginia to have afternoon thunder storms during the summer months, so it’s always good to have a back up plan when planning an outdoor ceremony or reception. But, as you can see, no back up plan was needed for Veronica and Brian. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!

Here comes my favorite flower girl.:)

And here comes the bride!

After the ceremony guests were able to linger on the lawn, enjoying cocktails, good company and a killer mountain view!

I loved Veronica’s choice of a cheery summer palette and the cherry and burlap details inside.

A peek inside the ballroom….

I instantly fell in love with the cupcake “cake”!

Mr. and Mrs.!!!

After Brian and Veronica’s entrance, Veronica’s father was the first to kick off the toasts, followed by the best man and maid of honor.

Before the sun officially set, Veronica, Brian and I snuck out one last time to frolic around the vineyard.

Meanwhile the guests were also enjoying this last bit of summer light…

First dances.

Veronica and Brian: It was a joy to work with you two on your wedding day and we hope our paths cross with you in the future. Many wishes to you as you walk on this amazing journey of marriage together!

Un abrazo fuerte,

Natalie

Missing shooting with you, when are you coming back to Cville?

King Family Vineyards Wedding | Veronica + Brian

Veronica and Brian tied the knot last month at the gorgeous King Family Vineyards in Charlottesville, Virginia. I can definitely say this was one of my absolute favorite weddings. Not just because it was simply beautiful, but because of who Veronica and Brian are as individuals and now as a married couple. I was blown away by how incredibly friendly everyone was at this wedding. It was an absolute pleasure to have attended and photographed such a momentous occasion in their lives!

I always love starting off a wedding day with the bride and her best girls. It was especially fun to see Veronica share laughter and tears with her mom, sister and best friends.

Cutest little flower girl. Ever.:)

Meanwhile Brian and his groomsmen were busy tying ties, fastening suspenders and pinning boutonnieres.

Brian waiting as patiently as possible for his beautiful bride.

This was the perfect First Look!

After the First Look we wandered out to the open field, surrounded by grazing horses and the spectacular Blue Ridge mountains.

The whole team!

Such a sweet moment between sisters…

I just couldn’t get enough of this flower girl and her ribbon wands!

Some of my favorites of Brian and Veronica…

If this first post wasn’t enough to satisfy your appetite, not to worry! We we have plenty more inspiration coming your way from Brian and Veronica’s King Family wedding tomorrow! Get ready because we’ll be showing off the fabulous ceremony and reception  – all of the decor, details, emotions, and moments will be right here tomorrow morning!

Un abrazo fuerte,

Charlottesville Engagement Session | Laura + Josh

It only took one phone conversation with Laura for me to figure out that she and Josh would be a perfect fit for us. I absolutely adored Laura’s enthusiasm and sweet spirit and we immediately bonded over the fact that we both LOVED our college study abroad experience in Valencia, Spain. But after their amazing engagement session on Grounds at the University of Virginia and getting to meet their sweet pooch, Nibbler, I  just knew the deal was sealed!

Laura and Josh are the kind of people you could spend the entire day with. They are so sweet, so in love and too darn cute. I just love them together.

I will always love shooting on Grounds at UVa. There are just so many beautiful spots and every time I’m there I discover a new favorite!

I love when my couples bring props and accessories!

Laura and Josh: I’m so glad that we were finally able to meet and that the rain held off for us! It was great getting to know you both a little better over dinner (thank you again, btw!), and I seriously can’t WAIT for this fall!

Un abrazo fuerte,

Natalie
