Ellen, John Beckett and Meredith | Charlottesville, VA

Well today I have a little pre-Christmas surprise for you! Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of spending some time with some good friends of ours. Before John and I were married, I lived with some friends and got to know this dear couple and their four adorable kids who lived across the street from us. It was great to visit and catch up with them, and even though two members of the family were not present, I did get some great shots of these three.

The two youngest: John Beckett (6) and Meredith (3)

I love this…John looking slightly bewildered.

Oh my goodness, Meredith. I could just take you home. Or give you a big squeeze. How about both!:-)

Here’s Mom about to tickle Meredith’s feet…

Of course the kids wanted to show me their stockings.

Here’s big sister, Ellen. She is 11 going on 25. While taking some portraits of her she was sharing with me her thoughts about the cholera outbreak in Haiti. No kidding.

Here’s Meredith deciding that it’s Ellen’s turn to be tickled. So cute!

Nothing like cute kiddos to brighten your day! Merry Christmas and happy Thursday!!

Morgan + Michael, Part Two | Charlottesville, VA

Welcome back to Part Two of Morgan and Michael’s engagement session! First order of business was to do a quick outfit change and then to head over to the Downtown Mall. The second order of business, however, was to get so excited about Morgan’s sweater and the light pouring in under the Rotunda that we had to stop for a few shots…

What I love about Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall is that there are so many colors and textures and beautiful light that pours into the alley ways. I am never at a loss for interesting shooting locations.

Down another side street….

One of Michael’s requests was to get some pictures with the canons in Court Square. I especially love that Morgan is coordinating perfectly with the canon.

Beautiful, you guys.

Before wrapping up the session, Morgan and Michael did a quick change into their college t-shirts. There’s a very sweet twist though. Instead of wearing the shirt from their own alma mater, they wore the shirt from each other’s alma mater. I think this is a beautiful picture of what marriage is about. In marriage we are called to not only care about the things we care about, but, more importantly, to delight in the other and in what the other delights in. Great thought, you two!

Love!

Morgan and Michael: June cannot come fast enough! We had such a wonderful time with you two, and we can’t wait for the wedding! Until then, take good care of each other.:-)

Morgan + Michael | Charlottesville, VA

I absolutely adore our couples. Although each bride and groom is unique, they all share one thing in common. They’re all madly in love and as sweet as pie. Sometimes I feel like I need to pinch myself to make sure that this thing I call “life” is really mine.

Morgan and Michael are no exception. From the first time we met, I felt swept up by the ways that they loved each other and anticipated each other’s needs. Michael is a true gentleman, and it’s obvious that he would do anything for Morgan. Both are comfortable and at ease with each other, and if you ask me, that’s a love worth falling and fighting for.

We met up with Morgan and Michael on Grounds at UVA for some sweet engagement action, and these guys came with their fabulous smiles and their tender, sweet love for each other. It was a winning combination!

We’ve got tons more images from Morgan and Michael’s engagement session, so check back soon for Part II!

Heidi + Zayne, Part II | Lancaster, VA

Welcome back to Part II of Heidi and Zayne’s charming fall-themed wedding at Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster, VA. This wedding was filled with lots of personal touches and creative, handmade details. John and I just love when couples infuse bits of their style and personality into the decor of the day. This wedding just came alive with the bright greens and reds of the apples and coordinating floral arrangements.

A big thank you to Willaby’s for the delicious catering, River Birch Florist for the beautiful flowers and Jackie at Carried Away Cuisine for the fabulous cake!

Are these not the cutest details ever!!??

Right after the ceremony Heidi and Zayne greeted each one of their guests before the cocktail hour began. Hugs all around!

While guests were enjoying the cocktail hour, family members and the wedding party followed us back to the front of the house for some group pictures.

One of the other great things about this venue was that it was very kid friendly. There was plenty of open space and no lack of trees for them to climb in.

Check out this fabulous cake!! And yes, it tasted every bit as good as it looks.:-)

Check out these bratwursts. My mouth is watering just thinking about all this food!!

Time for toasts from Zayne’s good friend and Heidi’s sister.

The first dance…

I love these shots of father and daughter!

After the cake cutting, John and I walked around the property for a bit to get some shots as the sun was starting to go down. We definitely decided we want to come back to explore more of this part of Virginia. I bet you’ll see why when you scroll down…

Heidi and Zayne: You both bring big smiles to our faces every time we look through these pictures! We loved every minute of your adorable, fun, personal, and just plain fabulous wedding day. Thank for you letting us be a part of it! All the best to you both.
