Happy Valentine’s Day

My Valentine:

Love and be loved. It’s a good thing, and it makes life worth living.:-)

So sweet, Natalie! Happy Valentine’s Day to you and John. I still remember the Valentine’s brunch you hosted for us – gosh- seven years ago!?!? Hope you’re well. Need to catch up real soon! <3

Happy New Year! Although I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions, I do like to begin a new year by reflecting on the previous year and what I would like to see change, how I would like to see myself grow, and what things I would like to accomplish in the coming year. New beginnings are such a blessing. Infused with hope, a new year, much like a new day, extends to us the opportunity to begin anew. A fresh start. A clean slate.

It’s also a time to reflect, and boy oh boy do I have a ton to be thankful for in this past year. John and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary in July, we made it out to San Diego twice, I attended WPPI’s (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) convention in March, we bought our first home, spent a few days with John’s sweet, sweet grandparents in south Georgia, shopped at our local farmer’s market, prayed together, attended our favorite Friday night wine tasting, ate delicious food, caught my first fish, enjoyed great conversations with each other and close friends, and found many reasons to laugh together. Like I said, so much to be thankful for.

And speaking of life’s blessings and new beginnings, let me introduce to you this adorable bundle of joy that I had the pleasure of photographing a few weeks ago. Meet William everyone. He is four and a half months old and the apple of his parents’ eyes. This was a particularly special shoot for me because William’s dad and my John are first cousins. It was kind of a last minute thing, but the lighting was dreamy and William was happy as a clam.

Kathleen, the beautiful and radiant new mother. LOVE!!

Oh my goodness. I just can’t get over the toes!!!

Oh to be a baby again when tummy rolls are actually cute!!!

I absolutely love the picture on the left. Doesn’t he look just like a little bear?!

Of course I had to include a shot with William’s favorite toy giraffe, Sophie.:-)

How big is William? So big!!

Kathleen and Ramsay: Thank you for sharing your little William! John and I are so excited to be a part of your journey together and to watch him grow up over the years. We’re looking forward to the day when he can join the Conger Classic!

Year in Review: 2010 Engagement Highlights

Welcome back to day two of our 2010 highlights! Today I’m going to be featuring this year’s engagements. I love engagement sessions because they are fun and relaxed, and it gives us a chance to get to know our couples before their big day. In fact, we always encourage our couples to do an engagement session because it helps them to feel more comfortable in front of the camera before their wedding day, and it’s a great opportunity for them to showcase their individual styles and unique love story.

This is also a great time to talk about engagements because I know that the holiday season is a popular time for popping the question. So a big CONGRATS to anyone who got engaged these past couple of weeks!! Here are some ideas for you if you’re thinking about getting some portraits done….

We kicked off 2010 with Anna and Patrick’s UVA Engagement:

Honor and John’s UVA Engagement:

Allison and Adam’s UVA Engagement:

Cameron and Kevin’s UVA Engagement:

Morgan and Michael’s UVA and Downtown Mall Engagement:

Well, friends, that’s all I’ve got for today. If you weren’t feeling sure about an engagement session, I hope these pictures helped to convince you! Check back tomorrow for the last of our highlights!!

Year in Review: 2010 Wedding Highlights

Wow. Where does time go? Do you remember when you were young and the adults around you would always talk about how time flies and how “oh my goodness you’ve gotten so big” and how “it feels like yesterday when you were toddling around in diapers”? Well, now I have officially joined that group. I am looking back at a year gone by and reminiscing, evaluating, pondering and smiling.

2010 has been a year beyond my wildest dreams. It was our first full wedding season, and we were blessed with six AMAZING weddings and six AWESOME couples. When John and I started this venture together, we really didn’t know what to expect. The future was unknown and a little scary, but that didn’t stop us from dreaming big. The result? Well, we have so much to be thankful for and excited about for this past year and for what awaits us in 2011! So a big shout out and sincere thank you to all of you – our clients, friends, family and fans – for supporting us, encouraging us and trusting us to document your life.

Without further ado, here are some of 2010’s highlights….

Anna and Patrick’s Lydia Mountain Lodge Wedding:

Sarah and Lukas’ Ash Lawn-Highland Wedding:

Allison and Tim’s Boar’s Head Wedding:

Gennie and Chris’ Montfair Resort Farm Wedding:
