Meghan + Jason, Part Three | Charlottesville, VA

Welcome back to Part Three, the final installment of Meghan and Jason’s Charlottesville wedding. When we entered the ballroom we were greeted by these fresh and fun arrangements which picked up on the flowers used in the bridesmaids’ bouquets. What a perfect way to usher in spring and the new couple!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

What I really enjoyed about this wedding is how much time Meghan and Jason dedicated to greeting and chatting with their guests. They made an effort to talk with everyone and to tell them how much it meant for them to be there.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Now for the formal introductions….

undefinedundefined

Mr. and Mrs.!!

undefined

Meghan and Jason’s first dance as husband and wife. It’s hard to find a single picture of them not grinning from ear to ear.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

The blessing and cutting of the challah…

undefinedundefined

And then all eyes turned to the bestman and matrons of honor as they shared stories (some funny, some heartfelt) about the couple. What was obvious to John and I was how much of a positive impact these two have made on the lives of their friends and families.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Proud dad.:-)undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

After the formal dances were over, everyone grabbed a napkin from a nearby table and the party started!

undefined

And before long, Jason and Meghan were lifted above the crowd. So fun!!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

And then both set of parents….

undefinedundefined

And they all danced the night away…

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

While the boys were outside lighting cigars….

undefined

….Meghan was on the dance floor showing off her Irish dance moves!

undefined

Jason and Meghan: Thank you for allowing us to step into your lives and document such an important day for you two. We had a blast and were truly touched by your kindness and your love for each other and those around you. We wish you all the best!

Natalie

Meghan + Jason, Part Two | Charlottesville, VA

Welcome back to Part Two of Meghan and Jason’s wedding at UVA’s Darden Business School in Charlottesville, VA. After their swoon worthy First Look, we headed back inside for the ceremony.

undefined

undefined

undefined

Meghan and Jason both stopped to hug and kiss both sets of parents before continuing on to exchange vows. These are the moments that make weddings so special!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

The breaking of the glass and the kiss! It’s official!

undefined

After the ceremony, we stepped outside again to the courtyard and got a few more shots of Meghan and Jason, but now as husband and wife! Whoo hoo!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

The whole gang.

undefinedundefined

A little rehearsal of the dance moves never hurts….

undefinedundefined

We’ll have the final part of Meghan and Jason’s wedding on the blog tomorrow, so check back for all the lovely details of this super fun reception!

Un abrazo,

Natalie

Meghan + Jason | Charlottesville, VA

Happy Monday and happy April everyone! I am so excited to be in the throws of spring. What a glorious time of year! Today I am very excited to get back into blogging about weddings (it’s been too long!), and boy do I have a beauty for you!! Meghan and Jason’s wedding took place at the Darden Business School here in lovely Charlottesville a few weeks back. They really lucked out and landed a beautiful, 65 degree March day. Although it was a bit windy, the sun was shining and smiles abounded.

Saunders Hall, the main building, perfectly exemplfies classic, UVA architecture. It was a beautiful venue.

undefined

I started the day with Meghan, her mom and two sisters as they prepared for the big day.

undefined

Check out these purple shoes!! I just love Meghan’s sense of style.

undefined

Meghan’s bouquet was handmade by her and her mother and displays an array of broaches and pearls. This is the most unique bouquet I have seen, not to mention beautiful and the perfect keepsake.

undefined

Here’s the precious flower girl. She looked beautiful in her new dress.:-)

undefinedundefinedundefined

Of course let’s not forget this little man. Although not quite old enough to be in charge of the ring, he did make his debut down the aisle.:-)

undefined

Pretty girls!

undefined

undefined

While I was with Meghan and the girls, John was hanging out with Jason and his groomsmen. I love being able to work with John as a team! I don’t know what I would do without him!

undefined

Each of the groomsmen had a different set of cuff links. Very creative!

undefined

Here they are. What a handsome group!

undefined

undefined

undefinedundefined

Once the girls were ready to go, we stepped outside and got some shots in front of Saunders Hall. I love how the black and white dresses coordinate with the windows and shutters!

undefined

undefinedundefined

Now for the lovely Meghan…

undefinedundefinedundefined

Now for the First Look! For any of you who are skeptical about opting for the First Look, just take a look at the reactions that these two have when they see each other. These are emotions that will seldom come out when you are in front of hundreds of people. All of my clients who have chosen to do a First Look have been SOOOO glad that they did. Something to think about….:-)

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

I absolutely love these two! The sight of Meghan on their wedding day just took Jason’s breath away. I also love the one of him showing her his striped socks. So cute!

undefinedundefinedundefined

LOVE!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

I just love how Meghan can make Jason laugh. Here she is bringing on the sass. 😉

undefined

Meghan and Jason – I love this next shot of you two. What a special day!

Baby Cooper | Charlottesville, VA

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend one of Jen Fariello and Robert Radifera’s Art of Photography workshops hosted here in Charlottesville. Jen and Robert are both AWESOME photographers here in town and they had a wealth of knowledge to share with us. I also really enjoyed meeting some other photographers in the area; there is just a ton of talent and creativity in this town! However, for me, the highlight of the morning was the arrival of our model, 7 month old Cooper. I had so much fun with this little man. I’m not sure he knew what to do with himself though. At any given moment he had about ten different cameras pointed at him, and behind each one of those cameras, a woman who would have taken this little guy home in a second!

This first series was taken inside a studio. It was my first time doing a shoot with studio lighting, so I was definitely anxious to see how they’d turn out. In the past, I have been intimidated by the studio set-up, but I must admit, I really enjoyed the experience and I like the results!

 Oops. Excuse me.:-)

Then Jen brought out a basket and a blanket and we put Cooper inside. Here’s what I got…

Once Cooper started to get bored in the studio, we brought him out to the hallway with some great window lighting. We all got down on the floor and started shooting away.

Love his expression on these next two….

Cooper’s mom had this sweet Land’s End bag with his name on it. We decided we’d stick him in it and see what we could get. I love this next series.:-)

Thanks so much for dropping by the blog again! March has definitely been the month for babies. Check back soon for a preview of a beautiful, artsy Charlottesville wedding!

Un abrazo,

Natalie

Baby Emma | Charlottesville, VA

I woke up this morning, walked outside to get the paper, and did a little post Saint Patrick’s jig when I felt the enveloping warmth of this March morning. Glorious spring! Even our neighbor, who has been hibernating since November, was out in her front yard trimming her daffodils. I love this time of year.

Thank you for your patience these last few months. I took a little bit of a break from blogging to work on our new website (woot woot – coming soon!) and to step back and think and talk to John about our goals for the year (life goals, photography dreams, relationships, etc). It was really helpful to be able to do this, but now, after shooting our first wedding of 2011 last weekend, we are officially back in the swing of things and the bloggy blog will get some much needed attention.:-)

I have a very special treat for you today. Last week I had the privilege of stepping into the lives of two new parents and photographing them with their first child, Emma. It is seriously amazing what I get to do. I am always so honored to be able to participate in people’s lives in such an intimate way.

Little Emma is a complete bundle of cuddly, gooey baby. At our session she was very alert and wanted to be held most of the time. We started her on the bed in some beautiful light, but after a while she got tired of that and started to roll over on her side! I’m not kidding. At two weeks! She didn’t quite make it, but it looked awful close!

Yay for baby feet!!

What a beautiful family!

JW is such a proud dad. Rightfully so.

Here’s Momma. So precious.

What I love about this next image is that the hands say it all. You don’t even have to see their faces to know how much this little one is loved.

Couldn’t you just stare at this cute little face all day long?

Elizabeth and JW – Congratulations on your newest additon. JW, as you so accurately stated earlier, “she is the awesomest ever”.:-)

Makes me wish I had photos like this of my babies when they were so itty-bitty! Nice work, Natalie!
