Art of Photography | Charlottesville, VA

Last month I had the privilege of attending a photography workshop hosted by the ever fabulous Jen Fariello and Robert Radifera. I was really nervous beforehand, not knowing what to expect and having really high expectations of myself (what’s new!), but once I started shooting, the nerves subsided and I ended up having a fabulous, fabulous time! We started the day at Open Space near Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall. Sometimes I dread shooting inside, but not in this space! There were floor to ceiling windows letting in some beautiful light, and the gorgeous Kirsten (who, by the way, is an awesome photographer in town!) was the perfect model!

Kirsten, I can’t stop looking at these pictures! You are just gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

Now the only thing that could be better than a beautiful bride, is a beautiful bride with an adorable, smily baby! Well, folks, I’m taking things up a notch.:-)

Although this workshop was primarily wedding focused, we did have a portrait model come in and work her stuff. And this girl could work it somethin’ fabulous!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Okay, so can we really get enough of a baby in a tutu???

undefined

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

I absolutely love these colors! I think they would make for a beautiful wedding palette…..

Kirsten working the veil a bit….

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Can we say fierce!!??:-)

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Jen Skriloff of Elan did a fantastic job with all the hair and makeup!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

And a shout out to Beehive Events for the beautiful bouquets!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Now for the cherry on top of the sundae we have TWO beautiful brides and a baby. I don’t think it gets much better.:-)

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

I love the shots of Laurie twirling her dress. So girly and pretty!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Well, I hope these pictures helped to make your Monday a bit brighter. I know they helped mine!! Stay tuned because this is only Part One! We’ll be back tomorrow with new models and a new “look” at the rustic/fabulous = rustfabulous???? Fat Cat Farm!

Un abrazo,

Sarah + Matt, Part Three | San Diego, CA

Well today is the third and final day of Sarah and Matt’s wedding on the blog. It definitely has been a great week! If you’ve been following along, we started out with some pre-wedding fun in Part One. In Part Two we began with their courtyard ceremony and then ended with some gorgeous shots of the new Mr. and Mrs. Today in Part Three we’re going to step inside of the Crowne Plaza San Diego for Sarah and Matt’s reception.

As their guestbook, Sarah and Matt had this adorable wedding tree for people to “leaf” and sign. I love this idea!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Cupcakes!

undefinedundefined

If you were just looking at the picture on the left, you might think that Sarah was shy. The picture on the right clears that right up.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Then Sarah and Matt went right into their first dance…

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Father and daughter…

undefined

One of Sarah’s bridemaids asked her if she thought her dad would start to cry during the ceremony. Sarah said that he probably wouldn’t then, but if he did, it would happen during their dance. She was right, and he even came prepared with a pair of sunglasses…

undefined

Matt and his mom cutting a rug…

undefinedundefinedundefined

Then the toasts began…

undefined

And when the two bestmen got up, the belly laughs began.

undefined

undefined

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

And then the party started. Even the dj joined in on the fun…:-)

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Love the reaction of the crowd in this one!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

When the song “Shout” started playing, a bunch of Matt’s friends picked him up over the crowd.

Thank you all for dropping by the blog this week and for reveling in the joy of Sarah and Matt’s wedding. Matt and Sarah – John and I had a blast at your wedding. We were so honored to be there documenting all the fun. We hope you had a great time on St. Lucia and that we see you guys soon. Much love!

Sarah + Matt, Part Two | San Diego, CA

Welcome back to Part Two of Sarah and Matt’s San Diego wedding. This day was so charming and lovely, and their beautiful ceremony took place in the courtyard of the Crowne Plaza under an arbor adorned with yellow and white daisies.

undefinedundefined

I love this shot of both fathers and the pastor right before the ceremony began.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

The lovely Sarah and her dad. So sweet!

undefinedundefined

Such a great moment between Matt and Sarah’s dad.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

I love capturing all of Sarah’s expressions! It is hard to find her without a smile on her face.:-)

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Husband and wife! It’s official!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

After the ceremony, Matt, Sarah, John and I took a stroll around the hotel courtyard and stopped whenever we found great light. Together these guys are SO cute!

undefinedundefinedundefined

Showin’ off the suspenders.:-)

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

I really like the tropical feel of this hotel. There were just so many great places to shoot!

undefined

undefinedundefinedundefined

undefined

Well, that’s all for Part Two. Check back tomorrow for all the lovely reception details!

Sarah + Matt | San Diego, CA

Yes, you did read that right. The Bells are officially destination wedding photogs! And what better place to start than in sunny, beautiful, I’ll have another acai bowl at Swami’s, San Diego??!! Not only was this wedding special for its location, but, more importantly, because of the people. Sarah, the bride, is a Jazzercise buddy of mine. We bonded almost instantaneously over our love of triple steps, chasse ball changes and jazz squares. Even though we now live states away, our friendship (and Jazzer passion) will always be there.

Sarah and Matt were married at Crowne Plaza on a beautiful, spring afternoon. Their ceremony took place outside, in a palm-lined courtyard, surrounded by dear friends and family.

Sarah sent me a picture of her dress months ago, and I remember really liking it. Nothing beats seeing it in person though! I love the single shoulder strap!

A little bubbly to get the party started.

The bride’s sister and matron of honor helping with a few last minute touch ups.

While I was hanging with the girls, John was with Matt and his groomsmen.

Loving the color combo…

Cheers!

Sarah’s lovely momma watching her daughter glow with joy and anticipation.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

undefined

What a handsome group!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Sarah’s dad gave her these beads (that were given to him when he was born) to pin to the inside of her gown. These are the touches that make each wedding so special and unique.

undefined

Ladies, you look awesome.

undefinedundefined

Sarah and her sister are so cute together!

undefined

Yellow is such a great wedding color. It’s just so happy!

undefinedundefinedundefined

Okay, Sarah, you are completely, undeniably gorgeous.

undefined

And fabulous.

undefined

And a rock star.

undefined

And stunning.

undefined

And….Sarah, seriously, I’m running out of adjectives!!!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Yellow shoes! Love!

Sarah and girls bringing on the sass…:-)

MOM - April 20, 2011 - 1:39 am

Natalie,
These pictures are so special! It was so fun and brought back so many good memories of Sarah and her crazy ways at Jazzercise. She was always so full of life and laughter…..what a neat girl. She is lovely and so many pictures really showed her beauty inside and out. I hope she loves these pics. You did a good job of picking out the details – love the yellow and gray too.

Love, MOM More to come?
