Irene + Don, Part Two | San Francisco, CA

Welcome back to Part Two of Irene and Don’s San Francisco wedding! After the ceremony, we traveled south of the city to a beautiful spot on the bay, Coyote Point Yacht Club. While the guests were busy enjoying cocktail hour, Don, Irene and I strolled around this beautiful property, taking advantage of the harbor views, willow trees and great afternoon light!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

I think this one might be my favorite shot of the day!

undefinedundefined

With the breeze coming right off the harbor, Irene and her veil had plenty of time to interact :-) But hey, if I’ve learned anything, it’s not to fight these things. You just have to go with what you’re given, and if you have to, make lemonade out of lemons.:-)

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Yay! All these pictures just make me smile. You two are so sweet together!

A toast to the newlyweds!

undefinedundefinedundefined

Don’s brother was the first to kick off the toasts.

undefined

He was followed by Irene’s sister and brother.

Don informed me during the reception that Irene had spent hours hand-making favors for all her guests. The fact that she hand-delievered them to each person made it that much more meaningful.
undefinedundefinedundefined
I love this shot of this little girl looking up at Irene. What the picture doesn’t tell you is that she was about to tell Irene that she looked beautiful. What’s awesome is that you can see it in her eyes. I love my job!!!
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
Don and Irene’s first dance – what a special moment for the bride and groom.
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined
Time for cake!

Irene warming up the arm for the big toss….:-)

The winner!!!

Irene and Don – John and I were so honored to be a part of your big day. Thank you, thank you for trusting us to document such a special event in your lives. I hope these pictures will always remind you of your love for each other and the love of your family and friends! All the best!

Irene + Don | San Francisco, CA

April was a very exciting month for John and I, and it couldn’t have culminated in a better way – a San Francisco wedding! Don and Irene were married in San Francisco, at the church where Irene grew up. As you can see from this first image, it was a beautiful, blue sky day (which, if you know anything about San Francisco, is a rarity!). Up until the point of the wedding, we had only communicated with Don and Irene via phone and email, so we were really excited to meet them both in person! We had our suspicions about them, and they proved absolutely true! Both Don and Irene are two of the kindest, warmest and most delightful people we’ve met. Together, we have know doubt, they will care for each other with devoted love and tenderness, while immensely blessing the lives of those around them.

Here are some of the details as the day began.

The lovely, lovely Irene, and a shot of her father’s rosary.

undefinedundefinedundefined

Here’s Don lookin’ super sharp.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

I love this black and white series of Irene just reveling in the moment.

undefinedundefined

undefined

I was blown away by the beauty of the church’s interior. I loved their choice of flowers. What a perfect compliment!

Don waiting patiently for his bride.

undefined

undefinedundefined

Irene was walked down the aisle by her brother. What a special moment between siblings!

undefinedundefined

I love this shot!

undefinedundefinedundefined

I love the shot on the left that John got of Don’s reaction to seeing Irene for the first time. So precious!

undefinedundefinedundefined

Don and Irene’s ceremony was both beautiful and deeply meaningful. It was also a great way for John and I to be reminded of the vows we made to each other!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Exchanging rings….

undefinedundefinedundefined

The kiss!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Don and Irene left the church in style!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

When the breeze kicked up Irene’s veil, we just went with it. I love the results!

undefinedundefined

So romantic!

undefinedundefinedundefined

There is so much more to share with you guys, and I can’t wait to feature Irene and Don’s reception at the Coyote Point Yacht Club tomorrow! Same time, same place everyone!

Un abrazo,

Natalie

Wow! Your eye made this church come alive! The pics are fabulous! I’m sure Don and Irene will be very pleased! Bravo!

Charlottesville Engagement | Erica + Tom

Erica and Tom wanted something different. They already had a friend take pictures of them around UVA’s gardens and Grounds, so they were thinking something more rustic and off the beaten track for their engagement pictures with John and I. We tossed around some ideas, but eventually settled on going to Panorama Farm. At the heart of this venue is a beautiful, old farm, complete with tree grove, rolled hay, and breathtaking mountain views. It was the perfect spot for us – I can only imagine what a wedding would look like here!

Before we wandered around the property, we spent some time around this barn. I love these two against this beautiful, textured wood!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Fierce, Erica. 😉

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

So cute! Love this one.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

After the barn, we wandered over to the tree grove. I love this one in black and white!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

You guys are going to have some cute kiddos!

undefinedundefinedundefined

Erica and Tom, you guys are such great sports. Thanks for being willing to frolic in the field with us.:-)

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

John’s angle.

undefined

My angle. By the way, Erica, you’re lovely!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Who can resist an open road?:-)

undefinedundefined

undefinedundefined

We love when couples are willing to have a little fun!

undefined

undefined

The barn from afar.

undefinedundefined

I couldn’t resist throwing in this artsy shot.

undefined

Back at the barn…

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Erica and Tom – We had so much fun with you guys! Thanks for working it for the camera.:-)Enjoy these last couple of months of engagement, and we’ll see you in July for your big day!

Art of Photography, Part Three | Charlottesville, VA

Well, friends, today is the third and final post from the Art of Photography workshop I attended in April. If you’ve just joined in, here is Part One, the modern indoor space, and Part Two, the first series at Fat Cat Farm. Today I want to start out with some shots of our beautiful model, Mana, and a new reception mock up. I definitely could picture a lovely garden wedding with high tea and sandwiches served for the reception!

undefinedundefinedundefined

I love the look of all this scrumptious fruit placed in this tree trunk. I’m telling you, the people at Harvest Moon Catering are top notch!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

undefined

undefined

undefinedundefined

undefinedundefined

Do you remember our “vintage” couple from Part Two? Well, they’re back with new outfits (don’t you think our model’s dress has a flapper feel?), and with the help of this cheery, yellow umbrella we set out to prove that rain does not have to ruin a wedding day! I mean, look how much fun they’re having.:-)

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Our last stop of the day is my favorite reception mock up. Let me tell you, Beehive Events does not disappoint! I also want to thank Maliha Creations for the gorgeous cake!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the highlights from this workshop. What a great experience! Thank you to everyone involved. Check back soon for a Charlottesville engagement session and a lovely San Francisco wedding!

Un abrazo,

Natalie

Art of Photography, Part Two | Charlottesville, VA

Welcome back to Part Two of the Art of Photography workshop! After spending the good part of the morning at Open Space, a more modern, indoor venue, we trekked out to Fat Cat Farm in Scottsville, VA. Fat Cat Farm is an amazing, rural, rustic (but at the same time elegant and classy) farm owned and operated by Beehive Events. Not only did we have the fabulous Kirsten of Kirsten Rose Photography to work with, but two new couples and a complete reception set up.

Our first “groom”. I love his tie/suit combo!
undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

I love everything about this ensemble…the necklace, the peacock hairpiece, the dress, the bouquet….everything!

undefinedundefinedundefined

undefined

undefined

undefined

Now for our second couple. I love the vintage look and the bright pink bouquet!

undefined

undefined

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

How awesome is the color and texture of this barn!? It made a perfect backdrop for these two.

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Are these guys too cute, or what!!???

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Now for the details of the “reception”….

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Wouldn’t this be the cutest idea for name cards??

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

Harvest Moon Catering did a fabulous job with the food. And, yes, we did get to eat it after we were done photographing!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

This girl was so fun to work with. I love these shots of her twirling her dress. By the way, if you were wondering, it’s a Tracy Reese!

undefinedundefinedundefined

Now back to the lovely Kirsten, who did a quick outfit change and added this fabulous hairpiece. I’m definitely reminded of the Kentucky Derby…

undefined

undefinedundefined

undefinedundefinedundefined

This girl has absolutely no fear. When we asked sheepishly if she would mind climbing onto this silo, she didn’t even blink an eye. High heels and all she is balancing on a razor thin edge!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

To compliment our theme, we brought out this vintage camera for our couple to play around with. I think this would make for a beautiful wedding!

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

undefined

Well, I thought I was going to be able to show you everything in two posts, but I underestimated the number of pictures I took! Stay tuned because we have more outfit changes and another reception mock up!
Un abrazo,
Natalie
