Kayla | Charlottesville, VA

Well, it’s Tuesday, and I can’t think of a better way to kick things off then with an AWESOME senior portrait session! Kayla and I met a few weeks back at Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall to take advantage of the diverse scenery and great colors and textures. I was so excited that Kayla chose this location! Here are a few of my favorites from our time together:

This shabby chic door is one of my favorite spots to shoot.

Beautiful, Kayla!

This red stairwell immediately caught my eye. I think it looks great against Kayla’s blue dress and black sweater!

Charlottesville Engagement | Emily + Tom

Before you take your last dip in your neighbor’s pool, throw your last burger on the grill, and stay up unreasonably late for the final time to finish that movie you’ve been wanting to watch all summer, I have the perfect way to send you off to your Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end of summer. Emily and Tom are AWESOME individuals and even better together. A few weeks back we met me on Grounds at UVa for their engagement session. Here are some of my favorites from our fantastic morning together!

Both Emily and Tom met and graduated from the University of Virginia, so it was key for us to get some of the “classic” shots. Next stop: Thomas Jefferson’s Rotunda!

I love this next series of Em and Tom in the grass. So cute!

After a quick outfit change, we set out again for a few more shots. Don’t you just love Emily’s dress and red shoes?!

I love how Emily and Tom are able to interact so naturally with each other, even in front of the camera. I love capturing these tender moments between couples.

After visiting one of the gardens, we hung out by the entrance, using the brick wall and adorable white gate. I think this might be my favorite series from our session!

For our last stop, Emily and Tom wanted some shots of them at the Biltmore, the iconic Corner restaurant and bar where they first met.

Emily and Tom: You guys are the real deal and it was such an honor to spend the morning with you, capturing your smiles and your sweet interactions. We can’t wait until the wedding in October!

Monica | Vienna, VA

What do you get when you mix a 100 degree July afternoon with Monica’s gracious, sunny smile? A dynamite senior session is what!! Nothing, not even the heat and humidity, was going to get this girl down. We met a few weeks back at one of my favorite spots in Northern Virginia: the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. This is such a beautiful spot for photos, as well as for spending a leisurely afternoon walking around and exploring acres of manicured flora.

Fall is just around the corner, with many of our clients starting school over the next few weeks. We have after-school and weekend sessions available, and the fall leaves and lighting will be quite beautiful this time of year. To book your session for this fall (& winter if you’d like!) please email us at natalie@nataliebellphotography.com, or call (434) 466-5149. Erica + Tom, Part Two | Charlottesville, VA

Welcome back! I’m so excited to share with you the rest of Erica and Tom’s UVa wedding today on the blog. Erica and Tom chose a fresh and simple color palette of cornflower blue, bright yellow and soft cream. It all came together beautifully at Alumni Hall where we all gathered right after the ceremony to celebrate and dance the night away.

Summer is a great time for hydrangeas, and these pale blue ones looked stunning as the table centerpieces.

UVa napkins adorned the cake table while Mr. Jefferson looked on.

Erica and Tom make their debut.

After dinner, Erica and Tom made their way to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife.

Next, it was Erica’s dad’s opportunity to dance with his daughter.

It just wouldn’t be a complete wedding experience without a conga line.:-)

Or how about a little YMCA!!??

The father of the bride, best man and maid of honor each had a chance to toast the newly weds.

Tom and his mom are both very talented dancers and so much fun to watch!

Erica sits front and center for the infamous garter toss.:-)

The lucky catch!

Erica and Tom: You two are the real deal. After your engagement session, John and I were so stoked to be able to spend some more time with you guys. We think you are awesome individually and even better together! We hope you had a fabulous time on your honeymoon and that you continue to have a lifetime of adventures together!!

Erica + Tom | Charlottesville, VA

Happy Thursday! Today I am so excited to share with you a tried and true Cavalier wedding. If you’ve been following the blog, you might recognize the sweet couple, Erica and Tom, from their Panorama Farm engagement session back in the spring. Both graduated from the University and, last month, they were married at the UVa Chapel and then hosted their reception down the street at Alumni Hall.

Before the major events of the day got underway, we met up with them to document all of the preparations. Here are some of the goings-on that John documented with Tom and the guys…

Meanwhile, I hung out with Erica and the girls….

I love this shot of Erica’s mom looking on with such admiration and joy.

Erica and Tom decided that they wanted to see each other before the ceremony, so while John and Tom were waiting for Erica and I to arrive, he snapped a few shots of the handsome groom in one of the gardens.

One of the best parts of having two photographers, is that we can shoot from two different perspectives. Here’s my angle of Erica and Tom’s First Look.

And thanks to my sweet husband, who accompanies me to all weddings, here is another perspective.

Yay! We love the First Look moment!!

Sigh. You guys are just so cute together.

Of course we had to get a few of the beautiful Erica as well.:-)

Love!

After the First Look, we walked up to the top of the Rotunda and got a few more shots. I’m so excited about this series!

One of my favorite shots!

UVa’s chapel is always a lovely, lovely ceremony location.

While John stayed inside to get the last few photos, I ran outside and snapped these shots of the newly weds!
We have the rest of Tom and Erica’s bright and fresh UVa wedding coming to the bloggy-blog tomorrow, so stay tuned for all of the reception details at Alumni Hall. Can’t wait!
