Charlottesville Wedding Photographer | Lauren + Andrew

A few times a year I’m asked to accompany another photographer in the area and second shoot. When I was first starting out, this was almost all I did. It was a great way to gain experience, practice and learn from a seasoned photographer without the pressure of “running” the wedding. Now I like to do it because it’s fun to work with other photographers, and it’s still a great way to learn from others. No matter how long we’ve been doing this, there is always more to learn and incorporate!

Last month I accompanied the fabulous Jen Fariello to Lauren and Andrew’s wedding at Veritas Vineyard and Winery in beautiful Afton, VA. It was an absolutely perfect day to be outside roaming the vineyard, so that’s exactly what we did! First, though, I started down in the cellar with Andrew and the boys as they were getting ready.

Both Lauren and Andrew graduated from The University, so clearly I had to get a shot of the bag!

Andrew opening up the letter that Lauren wrote to him for the wedding day…

Cheers!

After everyone was ready, we all headed over to the vineyard for Lauren and Andrew’s First Look.

I absolutely LOVE it when brides and grooms bring props.:-)

Ahhh….so romantic.

I love this moment between Lauren and her dad.

A few of the group shots…

I think Veritas has one of the prettiest ballrooms around. I especially loved the colors that Lauren chose against the dark wood chairs.

Take a look at these two cakes!

L.O.V.E.

Lauren and Andrew’s sweet dog. He was definitely present in spirit.:-)

The ceremony begins…

The kiss from my angle.

Directly after the ceremony, all the guests went back inside for the cocktail hour.

A few mingled outside…

After formal pictures, the wedding party started a quick game of croquet. So fun!

I just can’t get enough of this ballroom!

Mr. and Mrs.!!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Make sure to check back soon for a gorgeous Ash Lawn-Highland wedding that John and I shot!

Charlottesville Senior Photographer | Mariel

Happy Friday! I thought I would take a break from weddings this week and post some images from my time with high school senior, Mariel. Mariel and I met on Grounds at UVa a few weeks back for her session. I had the best time getting to know this young lady and have no doubt that a big future awaits her. Here are a few of my favorites from our time together…

Love the shoes, Mariel!

Lovely, lovely, lovely.

A quick outfit change…

Have a great weekend!

Charlottesville Wedding Photographer | Jennifer + Saul, Part Two

Welcome back to Part Two of Jennifer and Saul’s gorgeous Veritas wedding! Veritas Vineyard and Winery is such a gem of a place. It has the stunning views of the mountains and vines outside, and then walk inside to this elegant ballroom, complete with ceiling to floor drapery and sparkly lights. It’s a win win situation!

After we were done taking portraits of Jennifer and Saul, we made our way into the ballroom to catch the very end of the cocktail hour and to get some more shots of the reception decor.

Jennifer and Saul make their debut.:-)

Jennifer’s dad started off the night with a beautiful, sincere toast to his daughter.

Next up were the best man and maid of honor. Let me tell you. These two had us all in stitches. Not the least being Saul and Jennifer.:-)

After toasts, Saul and Jennifer took to the dance floor for their first dance together as husband and wife.

Then the rest of the guests joined in on the fun, and DJ Derek Tobler kept ’em dancing late into the evening.

What’s a party without a disco ball!??

A view from the vineyard…

Can you guess the dance?:-)

Right before their big exit, John snapped this shot of the bride and groom stealing a kiss. LOVE!

Jennifer and Saul: We hope you two had a marvelous time on your honeymoon and are settling into married life together. Thank you again for allowing us to witness and document such a special day in your lives. We wish you all the best!

Charlottesville Wedding Photographer | Jennifer + Saul

Jennifer and Saul’s wedding was our last official summer wedding, and what better way to say good-bye to summer than to shoot a wedding at beautiful¬†Veritas Vineyard? It had been pouring rain all day long, but just as we got into the car to drive to Veritas, the clouds began to part and rays of gorgeous sunshine cascaded across the sky. Needless to say, it turned out to be a picture perfect afternoon!

John began the day down in the wine cellar with the guys…

Meanwhile, I was upstairs in the bridal suite with Jennifer and her girls…

I love the look on Jennifer’s mom’s face!

A quick peek outside as the guests began to arrive….

Here is what they saw…

I was seriously swooning over the floral arrangements and bouquets put together by the fabulous Amy Webb of Blue Ridge Floral Design!

DIY program fans. LOVE!

Before the ceremony began, we took a quick tour around the ballroom to get some shots of the reception decor.

A huge shout out to Albemarle Baking Company for this gorgeous masterpiece!

Once all of the guests were seated, it was time for the ceremony to begin.

It was really special that Saul’s dad got to officiate the wedding.

What a gorgeous view!!!

The kiss from my angle…

Husband and wife! Just look at those smiles!:-)

The kiss and recessional from John’s angle…

Chillin’.

After we sent the bridal party on to cocktail hour, John and I stuck around with Jennifer and Saul for our favorite part of the day – portraits with the bride and groom! We couldn’t have asked for a better day, better scenery, better light or a better couple!

Love this.

Of course we meandered over to the vineyard…

Don’t be a stranger. We’ve got the rest of Jennifer and Saul’s swoon-worthy vineyard wedding on the blog tomorrow!

Great news! I woke up this morning to find that Heidi and Zayne’s fall-themed cake had been featured yet again! BRIDES.COM is running a story on creative cakes for the season and they chose Heidi and Zayne’s cake to be the first one featured! I completely agree that the combination of Heidi’s vision and the talent over at Carried Away Cuisine is a force to be reckoned with!
