Charlottesville Wedding Photographer | Janelle + Thomas, Part Two

Welcome back to Part Two of Janelle and Thomas’ romantic vineyard wedding at Trump Winery in lovely Charlottesville! I ended yesterday’s post with a preview of today’s post and a promise of much more to come . Well today I am back to deliver the goods, so sit back, relax and soak in all the beauty of this day!

I thought I’d start out with a few shots of the reception decor. Janelle chose a palette of green, white and coral for her tables which gave the room such a soft, clean feel.

Shout out to Chandlers Bakery for the fabulous cake!

Meanwhile, out by the lake, everyone had gathered for portraits and a little fun.:)I love these two shots of Janelle and her three brothers and then her with her best girls.
Hedge Fine Blooms knocked it out of the park again with these gorgeous bouquets!
Love!
We loved our time hanging out with these two. We finally had to let them go in and enjoy their reception, but man, it wasn’t easy! 😉
Perhaps my favorite from our time together…
A stroll through the vineyard…
For the cocktail hour, all of the guests gathered outside on the patio overlooking the lake and vineyard. What a gorgeous venue!
Janelle loves willow trees, so we made sure that we included the one at Trump in some of our shots.
Janelle and Thomas entering their reception…
…and going right into their first dance together.
Janelle’s father kicked off the toasts for the night.
Let me tell you, there was no shortage of cute babies at this wedding!
After dinner Janelle was brought out to the dance floor for a little Polish tradition: the polka!
Even the flower girls joined in!
Then the dance floor was open to all. Thanks to dj, John Garland, they boogied the night away!
Checking her inbox…:)
We escaped out to the vineyard one last time just as the sun was setting. We just couldn’t pass up the dreamy light!
Some of Thomas and Janelle’s friends came out to join us. After channeling their inner chimpanzee, they all gathered around the newly weds to sing and pray over them.
This was, without a doubt, one of my favorite moments from the evening.
Janelle and Thomas: What a blessing it was to witness and document your marriage and wedding day. John and I were both so touched by all of the big and small ways that you care for each other and those around you. What a beautiful beginning to your lives together! We wish you all the best!

Charlottesville Wedding Photographer | Janelle + Thomas

There is nothing forced or contrived about the love that Janelle and Thomas share. It draws you in like a good book because its roots run deep, deep in the faith that they share and their compassion and care for others. It’s solid like a redwood and as honest and true as the ocean’s waves. (I’m working on my California imagery, if you couldn’t guess!)

Their wedding day, which began at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and ended at Trump Winery, was the perfect reflection of this lovely couple and their story of how two became one.

The morning began at Janelle’s house with all the girls gathering to get their hair and make-up done.

I love this shot of Janelle’s dad carrying the bridemaids’ dresses. So sweet!

Over at St. Thomas Aquinas, Thomas was finishing up some last minute details.

Janelle’s brother and bridesmaids prepare the dress for Janelle’s arrival to the church.

I love this shot that John got of Thomas right before he took his place at the end of the aisle.

Janelle and her father link arms for their walk down the aisle. The moment Janelle set eyes on Thomas she immediately started to tear up (and so did I!).

It was very special that Thomas’ father was able to help preside over the ceremony and Mass.

While John was capturing the kiss, I was on the side just as this little cutie looked my way.:)

Right after the ceremony we all headed over to Trump Winery for an amazing evening of food, wine, music and dancing. Here is a little sneaky peek of all of the loveliness to come…

We’re just getting warmed up over here with Thomas and Janelle’s wedding, so be sure to check back tomorrow for all of the swoon-worthy reception details!

California dreamin’

That’s right, friends. After nine years of calling Charlottesville home, John and I are now California residents! We have boxed up our winter coats and are more than ready to soak in 365 days of seventy-two degree weather! I know. Don’t hate. Come visit!

Although we have been toying with the idea of moving to San Diego (my hometown) for a few years now, the timing just was never quite right. But a few months back, John was offered a position at UCSD (really, his dream job), and now we’re signing up for surf lessons and trying to work on our tans. John, by the way, will be much more successful with this venture. I will merely succeed at covering my body with more freckles and risk getting skin cancer, so, truth be told, I’ll be the the girl you see on the beach with the hat, sunglasses and t-shirt getting out of the water every hour to reapply her SPF 200.

And I want to reassure all of my lovely east coast brides, who if they are reading this, are by now starting to have heart palpitations, I did not abandon you for the sun and surf. I will be living in Charlottesville from mid-September through mid-November so that I can finish out my fall wedding season. I can’t wait! My plan is to split my time between both coasts, so don’t think because we’re out here we wouldn’t hop on a plane in a heartbeat for your wedding!

And because all posts are better with pictures, here’s a shot of our new backyard. Next time I post this shot, I hope to have Gus up on a surfboard riding one of these bad boys. I mean, really, can’t you see it? 😉

Happy Friday!

Crozet Wedding Photographer | Jenn + Jamie

Jenn and Jamie had the right idea when planning their wedding at the lovely Montfair Resort Farm. They kept things simple, personal, charming and intimate, a winning combination if you ask me! Set against a gorgeous rustic background, complete with views of the Blue Ridge, lakeside canoes, campfires and cabins, this Virginia treasure was the perfect destination for these two outdoor enthusiasts. A big shout out to Jennifer Hamlin at Events with Panache for coordinating all of the details, to BBQ Connection for the finger lickin’ barbecue and Chatham County Line for an evening of bluegrass bliss!

Surrounded by friends and family and their sweet little boy, Levi, Jenn and Jamie couldn’t have asked for a prettier place or a more lovely June day.

I love the smile on Jamie’s face as he watches Jenn walk toward him.

Sweet Levi.:)

A few favorites of the newlyweds…

Because Jamie and Jenn were so relaxed, it gave their guests permission to just breathe in the mountain air and enjoy the afternoon. It was really lovely to witness.

Jenn and Jamie were absolutely thrilled to have their favorite band, Chatham County Line, come all the way from Raleigh to provide the reception music. They really stole the show!

It’s almost impossible not to dance when there’s live bluegrass music involved. Trust me. I was having to reign myself in.:)

Jenn and Jamie: Thank you for allowing us to step into your lives and document such an important day for you two. We had a blast and were truly touched by your kindness and your love for each other and those around you. We wish you all the best!

Thanks so much, Natalie. You did such a fabulous job. We love them!

Charlottesville Wedding Photographer | Whitney + Austin

Whitney is a firecracker; she’s a pink-loving, girly-girl and just lights up the room with her dynamite smile and emanating energy. Austin is as steady as the incoming tide. He’s a solid rock, a calm ocean breeze. And when these two come together, they will be unstoppable. Their wedding, which started at the UVA Chapel and ended at Farmington Country Club, was an unforgettable affair. Busting at the seams with feminine details, a gown that would make any Disney princess swoon, and topped off with a couple who’s smiles say it all.

Once or twice a year I make it a point to second shoot with other photographers. I do this in part to help out but also as a type of professional development. The responsibilities as a second photographer vary a bit from lead photographer, so it’s a great opportunity to have to approach a wedding with different goals in mind. I always appreciate the challenge and walk away with new perspectives and skills. A huge shout out to Jen Fariello for inviting me to come along with her!

The guys started out the day getting ready and hanging out at the Boar’s Head Inn. They all did such a great job making me feel welcome and even let me take a few pictures while I was there. 😉

Have a great week!

Un abrazo,

Natalie
