San Diego Family Photographer | The Harmsen Family

Ever since John and I moved out to California, we have been asked multiple times what we miss most about Virginia and what we like most about living in San Diego. My answer to both questions is the same: our friends. Yes, we miss the beautiful Blue Ridge and yes, we love living by the ocean, but  it will always be our community that means the most to John and me.

I think the part that I’ve enjoyed most since moving back home is reconnecting with friends who I haven’t seen since high school or even earlier. Growing up, my closest circle of friends were from my ballet studio, but since graduating we all have gone our separate ways. You can imagine my excitement, though, when one such friend found me on Facebook and asked me about taking family portraits for her during their stay at The Grand Del Mar. Not only was I excited to catch up with her, but also to meet her husband and their precious one year-old daughter, Charleigh.

India, you are stunning as always, and Charleigh is an absolute doll!

Such a beautiful family!

Oh my goodness. Love this one!

Here she comes!

Walking with Dad…

Look at those gorgeous blue eyes!

India and Jed: I can’t tell you how touched I was that you not only reconnected with me but also invited me out during your vacation to take family portraits. I had such a great time catching up with y’all and meeting sweet Charleigh. She is precious! Can’t wait to hang out again soon!

Charleston Newborn Photographer | Baby James

Only a few short weeks ago John’s cousins welcomed into the world the newest member of their family: sweet baby James. He was scheduled to arrive Labor Day weekend, but, much to our surprise, this little guy made an early appearance, happy and healthy as can be! (James, I give you props for coordinating so well with our trip out to South Carolina. Impeccable timing, if I do say so myself!)

John and I were so excited to be able to spend some time with his family, meet baby James and photograph big brother William! It’s so crazy how fast they grow. It seems like just yesterday that William looked like this.

Oh, and even Holly made her cameo appearance.:)

 Big brother William!

Welcome to the world baby James! Your parents are so blessed to have you in their lives and you are so lucky to have these two amazing people as your parents.

William was so sweet with James. He was giving him kisses, hugs and telling all of us “my baby James”. So, so cute.

I just love Kathleen’s sense of style.

After some time inside we wandered out to the front porch for a bit. William was so good at showing us all the leaves he found.

It’s hard work being cute.:)

Kathleen and Ramsay: John and I were so excited and honored to be able to spend the morning with you and  your boys. Thank you for such a warm welcome to Charleston and for another great tournament! We can’t wait to see y’all next year, if not sooner!

Conger Classic 2012 | Isle of Palms, SC

What do you get when you combine thirty people, kayak fishing, oyster roasting, a little trash talkin’, multiple games of Carcassone and two kegs of home brew? The one and only Conger Fishing Classic, of course! As promised, I am back today to give you a full report from the 9th annual Conger Classic at the Isle of Palms near Charleston, SC. Every year a handful of my husband’s aunts, uncles, cousins and their significant others and children all convene together on this island to battle it out with rod and bait for the winning fish and the glory of being the next Conger Classic champion.

After four years of participating and no trophy in my name, I was really hoping that this might have been my year. Unfortunately the fish were just not biting. No, seriously. Every person came back empty handed.:(I was starting to take it personally but once I found out that we were all skunked by those cold blooded, gill-bearing creatures, I didn’t feel so bad. But as you’ll see from our group shot, it takes more than a bunch of wily fish to get us down….

Watch out fish. Next year it’s game on.:)

Charlottesville Family Photographer | The Inofuentes Family

It seems like yesterday we were driving up to Old Town Alexandria to meet our good friends, Amber and Jason, for their maternity session on the water front. Despite the summer heat at thirty-seven weeks, Amber was just glowing with wonder and joy and Jason had the insuppressible smile that only an expectant father can have. On July 5, 2011 they welcomed sweet Emmaline into the world, and now over a year has passed and sweet Emmaline is one! Where does the time go!? To celebrate we met up in Charlottesville for a quick birthday photo shoot.

Emma and her daddy:)

She was very curious about all of the pebbles on this little path…

Little girls in pink bows…it just doesn’t get any cuter!

Amber and Jason: We’re so glad that we were able to meet up with y’all before our trip west! John and I are so thankful for your friendship and being able to participate in your lives during your transition to parenthood and throughout Emma’s first year. She is such a love!!

Dog Days of Summer | Cardiff, CA

Well, friends, it’s that time of year again. Labor Day, the unofficial end of summer, is just around the corner and everywhere I go there is a buzz about back to school supplies and the new colors for fall. Pottery Barn just mailed out their fall catalog, so I’m all geared up to start breaking out the cable knit throws and apple pie recipes. Who’s with me!? But before we get too carried away with visions of pumpkin spiced lattes, I thought I would bring one last nod to summer to the blog. A few weeks ago my mom, my sister and I attended the 7th annual Dog Days of Summer festival right in our new backyard of Cardiff, CA. We had so much fun checking out all of the different dogs, the vendors, a few contests and even an obstacle course just for the furry friends!

Here’s a shot of my sister with her sweet lab, Kalli.

I love how my mom’s hat coordinates perfectly with little Gus Gus.

Sheep dogs!

We arrived just in time to watch the fashion show…

Oh my goodness. These two crack me up. I especially love the guy on the left. He looks just like a tourist!

Pink!!

The princess.

Next up was Dorothy and a die hard Charger’s fan.

Cooling off in the kiddie pools…

I think Gus thought it felt a little bit too much like a bath…

I hope y’all have a fantastic week! John and I will be in Charleston, SC for the 9th annual Conger Classic. I promise pictures and a full report when we return!
