Charlottesville Senior Photographer: Claire

I know it’s March and we’re all pining for the first days of spring, but I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to post some of my favorites from my time with Claire this past fall. After being rained out TWICE we finally were able to meet, and I’ve gotta say, it was worth the wait!

I love how striking Claire’s blue dress looks against the green grass.

After a quick outfit change we took a stroll through this open field. I just love the way all the fall colors blended together in the background.

Charlottesville Senior Photographer: Zyanya

I’ve been sitting on this shoot from last fall for far too long. To be honest, this is one of a handful of shoots that I’ve been sitting on, not because I haven’t wanted to post them, but because I just haven’t had the chance. Well, today, friends is the day. Not only is Zyanya a total cutie pie, but she’s 100% bilingual (jealous!) and a rockstar field hockey player. I wish I could say that she was one of my former students, but the truth is that she came to Covenant knowing WAY more Spanish than I could ever teach her.:)But I’ll settle for the next best thing – getting these senior photos for her on the Downtown Mall!

Only two more seniors to showcase before our 2013 senior marathon comes to a close. Be sure to stay tuned!

Marcheta Street | Encinitas, CA

I know it’s been FOREVER since my last post (I always blog once a week, but it’s now officially been 3 weeks since my last post. Yikes!) That is why I have an extra special post to share with you today along with a MAJOR life updates.:)

Now most of you know that John and I moved out to San Diego last July. If you didn’t, well now you’re updated and, if you want, you can read a little bit more about our move here. What you might not have known is that we’ve been living with my parents these last seven months, along with my sister, her dog, my parents’ dog and our little Gus – a full house! Well home is now 223 Marcheta Street, and we couldn’t be happier! Although we were really hoping to buy a house, it just wasn’t working out, and when I spotted this little cottage on a walk one morning, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to live in this neighborhood, be walking distance from awesome restaurants and shops (shout out to hapifish, the Bird House Grill and Pannikin) and a block, (yes, you read that correctly) a single block from the beach.

So we’re renting for now and loving every minute of it! It’s so wonderful to have our furniture out of storage and filling what were once empty, yawning rooms. I already have a favorite spot in the house. It’s sitting looking out the window on my swivel rocker. This also happens to be Gus’s favorite spot except for he perches himself on the back ledge so he can have a view out the window. I have to tell you, it’s like puppy television.

Major life update #2: John and are going to Spain!!!!!!!!!! We have been talking about taking this trip for years, but we just couldn’t seem to ever commit. Well, once we found out that we had enough sky miles to cover both of our flights, we were sold. No more excuses. So we will be spending the first part of April traveling around Spain. (More to come on this subject, I promise!)

Little Gus is all grown up now. I love his deep, soulful, brown eyes.

Our place doesn’t have a back yard, so John and my dad worked all day last Saturday creating this little side yard space for our outdoor table. It’s perfect!

Our cross street and a view of the front door!

Alright, so now that we’re all caught up on this end, I want to let you know what’s coming down the pike. First, I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been up to out here (namely two AWESOME family portrait sessions and some personal projects I’ve been working on), but I also promise to finish showing you the last few senior portrait sessions as well as some cute, cute, CUTE engagement sessions from this past fall. Can’t wait. Stay tuned!

Lovely nest!

San Diego Portrait Photographer: Antonina

Toni is the kind of girl that will always make you smile. She’s got a wicked sense of humor, enough energy to run New York City and killer dance moves to match. I was so excited when she contacted me a couple weeks ago to get some portraits and head shots done for her new job. We had a blast roaming the side streets of Leucadia and I just fell in love with all her fun, sassy ways. I love a girl who knows how to work it for the camera! And today is an extra special day because it also happens to be Toni’s birthday!

Happy Birthday, girl! Hope it’s as fabulous as you!!

Charlottesville Senior Photographer: Sydney

Sydney was an absolute joy to work with! She arrived at the Boar’s Head Inn, with her mom in tow, full of energy and excitement for her pictures. She knew exactly how she wanted her hair & makeup, and had the cutest outfits all picked out and ready to go. I have to admire young women with confidence!! We headed out on a beautiful autumn afternoon, and we had the best time playing in the leaves, walking across brides and swinging on benches. Sydney has the best smile and the cutest little pout, and it was so fun to capture it all in these photos.

We started off shooting right around the Inn. The twisted vines and lovely brickwork immediately caught my eye.

Sydney changed into this fabulous coral dress before we headed over to the beautiful flower fields.

I love that Sydney saved this dress for last because it was the perfect color and texture for the creamy, golden hour light.
