Life Lessons from a Pup: Lesson 1

Well, the creative juices have been flowing this week, and when they start flowin’, you never know what I will come up with! The end result of this week’s burst of creativity is that I’ve decided to start a new series of posts for the blog. They will be entitled “Life Lessons from a Pup” because it’s becoming clear that Gus has as much to teach us as we have to teach him! It will also act as a way of sharing a little bit about our lives with him, and let’s be honest, an excuse to post a million pictures of his cute little face.:-)

Lesson 1: Never lose your sense of curiosity.

Gus is into everything. He doesn’t leave a rock unturned, a leaf unsniffed, or a face unlicked. Whatever we’re doing – whether we’re typing on the computer, reading a magazine, gardening, talking on the phone – he wants to be right there in the middle of it. His relentless curiosity about life has been so refreshing for us. Yes, he’s a hand full, but overall, his genuine interest in life, people and experiences have been a great reminder that there is always more to learn and discover if we just keep our eyes open and resist the temptation to become complacent.

If you’re anything like me, you like predictability, stability and a sense of safety and security. I don’t think these are inherently “bad” preferences, but if I never push myself out of my comfort zone and turn over a few new rocks, if you will, then I will miss the opportunity to grow and be inspired by new discoveries. So here’s to reinvigorating our sense of curiosity and taking a few risks! Thanks, Gus.:-)

Un abrazo,

Natalie
