Conger Classic 2009

Welcome to my blog! I can’t believe I am publishing my first official blog post, but it’s true! I thought I would start by sharing some pictures and antidotes from the Conger Classic, a fishing tournament that my husband’s cousin began 6 years ago. So this isn’t just your average fishing tournament. First, we fish from kayaks. Second, we’re out in 30 degree weather. Third, we have a huge oyster roast the night of the tournament. And fourth, the winner goes home with some cash, and more importantly, his/her name engraved on the infamous trophy. Now this was my first year participating, so I was trying to keep my expectations low. Just one fish. That’s all I wanted. But alas, you can imagine my disappointment when I¬†was the only contestant that didn’t catch a single fish. Yes, you heard that right. Zero. Zilch. Nada. But after three hours and 50 casts later (I wanted to say like 200 casts, but John thought I might be over-exaggerating a bit), I decided that I would rather save my fingers and toes from frostbite than catch a fish. Call me crazy, but a girl’s got to have her limits. I will say that the Isle of Palm is such a beautiful place, and we feel so blessed that we can go down there when we have time off. It was great to see all of the extended family, and I especially loved the chance to snap some pictures of the cousins.

P.S. You have to check out the trophy! My husband, John, was the proud recipient a few years back.

Isle of Palms, SC. So beautiful!!

This is Evie Rose, the newest addition to the family. It just doesn’t get much sweeter than this, folks.

Look at the size of these fish!!

Here’s a post-tourney picture of John. Look how happy he is!!

Allie, who just turned 3, is such a cutie-patutie. She loves to twirl her hair and smile for the camera. Her favorite line was “Daddy’s going to get the biggest fish”. And guess what – he did!!

The official group shot – thank you Mr. Tripod!

And last but not least – the trophy presentation….drum roll please…..Now who wouldn’t want to have their name forever inscribed on that beauty!?
